The book I used was ”Kaamos – Landscapes of darkness” (book of photographs), painettu 2006. I wanted to emphasize the atmosphere of the photographs and the magic of the polar night.2007, reindeer leather, a bookcase, long stitch binding.In the private collection.
Tuonela’s river

This work based on the stories of Kalevala. I wanted to express the atmosphere of Tuonela’s river with the strong colours.2007, hand coloured pages, my own variation of historical bindings.In the private collection.
BOOKWALL: THE RESCUE OF VÄINÄMÖINEN

The work based on the book Kalevala, illuminated by Matti Visanti. My bookwall consist of eight bindings and their front covers together turn into an image.2007, 650×1002 mm, reindeer leather, wooden frame, long stitch bindings.
Louhi

The book I used was Kalevala comics by Kristian Huitula (printed in 1998-2000).Louhi, the mistress of Pohjola, is a character in the Kalevala who can change her shape into a giant Kokko bird.2005, 320×374 mm, (when book is closed), reindeer leather, cloth, my variation of the accordion book.

The book I used was ”Beyond the wolf line” (an anthology of Sámi Poetry), printed in 1996. 2005, 280x340x30 mm, reindeer leather, cloth, a bookcase, reindeer horn. My own variation of the stub binding.

Väinämöinen

The book I used was Kalevala comics by Kristian Huitula (printed in 1998-2000). Väinämöinen is the main character of our national epic Kalevala.2005, 253×178 mm, reindeer leather, a bookcase and a mini sword made by blacksmith Kimmo Tulimetsä as the case closure.The work is in the collections of the Royal Library of Stockholm.
